Data Formatting & Cleansing Project

Welcome! 

I have been doing "Data" related freelancing for a few years now. The purpose of this post is to introduce aspiring and new Freelancers to the basics.

So for this particular project, I was given a system-generated report that was in text (.txt) format. My initial task was to import it to MS Excel. after that I was supposed to format and cleanse the data in order to perform some analysis using excel's built-in tools.

So initially the file looked like this:

The First step was to import this file to MS Excel, let's have a look:

After importing (choosing the right options) the imported file looked like this:

The next step is to cleanse  data so that only required information remains, it looked like this:

Finally, the sheet is formatted as per the requirement to analyze data:

So, the file is ready to be delivered to the client.
